Petra's work falls into three main categories:

Coaching: Petra works with product leaders in one-on-one and small group settings to tackle their biggest challenges and develop their skills. She also offers an email course, From Strong to Exceptional, to share her coaching curriculum with a broader audience.
Writing: Petra is the author of STRONG Product People, a book that has been read and loved by hundreds of product leaders worldwide as well as STRONG Product Communities, a guide to building and sustaining impactful communities of practice.
Creating tools and frameworks: Using her keen observation skills, Petra distills her learnings into frameworks like the Product Leadership Wheel, which clarifies the core responsibilities of product leaders and the Product Management wheel, which does the same for IC product managers.

Petra also co-organizes and curates Product at Heart, an annual conference for curious product people in Hamburg, Germany and co-hosts the All Things Product podcast with Teresa Torres.

LONG

Petra Wille is an independent product leadership coach and author who's been dedicated to helping product people improve their craft since 2013.

Petra started her career as a software developer in one of Germany's largest publishing houses (Hubert Burda Media) and quickly realized that she had a talent for the conceptual part of the job. During her tenure at SAP and the business network XING, she developed her product management expertise by working with great product thought leaders like Marty Cagan and Jason Goldberg.

After her time at XING, Petra first became Head of Product, and later Managing Director of the translation startup tolingo.

In 2013, she became an independent product management consultant and product discovery coach. And in 2024, she was featured and recommended for her coaching skills in Marty Cagan’s book, TRANSFORMED.

In addition to the one-on-one and group coaching she does with clients, Petra regularly distills her observations into different formats and frameworks to make them accessible to the wider product community.

Petra is the author of two books, STRONG Product People: A Complete Guide to Developing Great Product Managers, which has been read and loved by hundreds of product leaders worldwide, and STRONG Product Communities, a guide to building and sustaining impactful communities of practice.

She has created several tools and frameworks, most notably the Product Leadership Wheel, which allows product leaders to assess their skills and chart their professional development goals in a consistent, sustainable manner.

Alongside her freelance work, Petra teams up with Arne Kittler to co-organize and curate Product at Heart, a conference for curious product people in Hamburg, Germany and co-hosts the All Things Productpodcast with Teresa Torres.
