Time to Think - Nancy Kline
During coaching sessions, the magic often happens when I’m not speaking. When I give coachees the chance to lay out the details and walk me through an issue, they’ll often begin to generate their own ideas on how to solve the problem. My role in these situations is to sit and listen intently, occasionally asking open-ended questions to keep the creativity flowing. What we both experience in these moments is the power of attentive listening and the importance of unbroken time to think and articulate ideas. Sound like something you’d like to experience more with your own team members or coachees? I’d recommend reading Time to Think by Nancy Kline. This book speaks to these transformative moments and provides ways to ensure everyone has more opportunities for deep reflection in their daily lives amidst the demands of a busy world.
The inner Game of Tennis - W. Timothy Gallwey
We can often learn so much by looking outside our industry. Case in point: As a product leadership coach, I got so many ideas and takeaways from The Inner Game of Tennis by W. Timothy Gallwey. This book is about the mental state required to deliver peak performance and how you can cultivate that state in sports, work, and life. It’s perfect for product leaders or coaches who are looking for fresh inspiration to bring to their coaching sessions.
